Super Eagles forward, Peter Osaze Odemwingie, will undergo a knee surgery following an injury he sustained during last Saturday’s Barclays English Premier League game between Stoke City and Manchester City.
The Stoke forward made this known via his twitter account, @odemwingieP.
“It’s confirmed now surgery is required. Really gutted I will miss many games of the season. I will work hard to be back as early as possible.
“We have a strong squad that will do great in the league and I will be back in time for the Wembley finals”.
The 33-year-old came on as a substitute early in the second half but had to go off after spending just barely 15 minutes on the pitch after he over stretched to keep the ball in play.
Odemwingie may be out for the rest of the 2014/15 season after damaging his cruciate knee ligament.
He was one of the top performers for Stoke City last season, scoring six goals in 15 Premier League appearances, which helped the potters to their best league finish – 9th.
