In this case then, are we safe to conclude once again that there are no permanent enemies in politics with the myriad cross carpeting of these politicians (the latest being PDP’s Engr Segun Oni being sanctified and crossing into APC)? That the mud be thrown by APC party machinery to stain PDP’s fabric will only change sides as soon as APC snatches power come 2015? That the present crop of APC goons might even turn worse compared to PDP numbers sooner than later

Need I warn you that this is not a witchunt of the ruling PDP, we must not forget how the PDP under the dystopic hand of Chief Obasanjo rigged everything from elections to judgements to petroleum to sabotage and even tending towards developmental redundance. So neither should this be taken as a bastardization of the whims and caprices of APC but a mere exposition of the fouled ass of APC’s ‘angelic’ Mother-hen nor an effort towards their redemption.

Need I also digress into how PDP in 2003 descended from the high heavens onto the gubernatorial and earthly platform of many states, trust me PDP was not very popular with the people in 1999.

It simply baffles me how easy Nigerians forget, yes, and we swing from being loyal to one party or the other at little aprise. Do we even seem to remember what we once suffered at the hands of these old prodigal APC memebers who mostly migrated from the punishment party of those times, Alliance for Democracy, AD. I remember, if most South-Westerners choose to forget, the hardship caused by stringent policies of the AD governors. I remember the lackadaisical attitude of then Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, who is now the holier-than-thou APC Chairman. I remember the redundant but tepid years of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of then Lagos State, amidst the meleu of being challenged by Late Chief Gani Fawehinmi(SAN) in a long judicial battle, who was only able to lay the foundation of the development of Lagos State within his 8 year rule. I remember the oratorical Late Chief Adebayo Adefarati who struggled to make little sense out of a chaotic Ondo State amidst corruption. I remember the lazy recurrence of mediocrity being meted on indigenes of Ekiti State by Chief Adeniyi Adebayo until he was kicked out of the seat of power. I refuse to forget the low ebb of development in Ogun State under the gubernatorial supervision of Otunba Olusegun Osoba. Should we continue this historical journey down forgotten memory lane?

I remember vividly how most of these AD Governors of old were chased out of office by the people of South Western Nigeria without regard to their sing-song of standing under the waning umbrella of Awoism(apologies to perpetual Awoists). Then the people sought for a new cool; PDP saw a loophole in our mentality and they filled it up with their jargons which lasted in most South-Western states for atleast 4 years each with the exception of Lagos and Ondo States.

Fast forward circa 2011 general elections, mere seeing the PDP jungle ride was almost worse than the earlier AD punishment, the people went back to their Prodigal Proponents. Only that this time it has changed name, amidst micro-amalgamation, into Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). The power brokers soon discovered the Awoist toga had to be dropped if any nationwide progress is to be made. And this was the beginning of the amalgamation -The Political Bethrotal of Many to Unwanted Spouses.

General Muhammad Buhari (rtd) who has been on a roll and cleansing politically since 2003 suddenly forgot his past sins; he was courted and eventually joined forces with his saintly ACN proteges, pulling the Northern Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) muscle for the Holy Amalgamation. Other parties were courted- even the Eastern All People’s Grand Alliance (APGA) but only a fragment of the party yielded to the pressure.

All these strands of connected dots points to a single fact: the new APC will stop at nothing to achieve their dream of wrestling the control of the National Cake from the PDP even if it is to sacrifice their hard-earned ‘integrity’ on the altar of dining with the devil with a long spoon.

In this case then, are we safe to conclude once again that there are no permanent enemies in politics with the myriad cross carpeting of these politicians (the latest being PDP’s Engr. Segun Oni being sanctified and crossing into APC)? That the mud be thrown by APC party machinery to stain PDP’s fabric will only change sides as soon as APC snatches power come 2015? That the present crop of APC goons might even turn worse compared to PDP numbers sooner than later? That the present bandwagon of APC Voltrons and praise-singers might turn their backs on their one-time-saviours? Or that these present day APC amalgamation might in little time show forth the ugly and corrupted faces behind that ‘Change’ mask!
