Reuters reported that President Muhammadu Buhari and his delegation missed an important meeting in the United Nations General Assembly- for talks on Boko Haram and internally displaced persons.
The Presidency was quick to react by absolving Buhari and his delegation of any blame, adding that the meeting was not part of the President’s itinerary.
While the dust was yet to settle on that diplomatic snafu, The Cable reports that President Buhari was not allowed to see Pope Francis after coming late to his address of world leaders.
The briefing of the President by the Nigerian UN mission staff, was said to be shoddy.
Apart from coming late to the meeting, Buhari was said to have also taken a wrong gate rather than the one reserved for presidents and heads of state.
Buhari reportedly arrived when other leaders were already lined up to shake hands with the pope, and was thereby not allowed to join them.
