In response to the threatening wrath of Hurricane Irma which has made landfall today in the Caribbean Islands, moving towards Puerto-Rico and the US Virgin Islands and expected to reach Florida by Friday, President Trump has declared a state of emergency in three locations through a release from the White House.

President Trump in the release authorized the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts to help alleviate the hardship and suffering that the emergency may inflict on the local population, and provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures.
The President also named Justo Hernández, Alejandro DeLaCampa and William L. Vogel as the Federal Coordinating Officer for Federal recovery operations in the affected areas of Florida, Puerto-Rico and US Virgin Islands respectively.
