[The Presidential Blog] Did you know? President Buhari is building houses for civil servants

President Muhammadu Buhari met behind closed doors with the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita today. While the meeting happened behind closed doors and as has been the practice lately, there were no pictures and the Presidency issued no statement on the meeting, we still found out what was said.

You guessed it… through Mrs Oyo-Ita.

She said the agenda of the meeting was simply a debriefing on the state of the nation’s civil service.

[An agenda that somehow explains the rush by Adeosun’s ministry to recover pensions from ghost workers]

Anyway, the civil service head say she stole the opportunity of the meeting to update the President on the Federal Integrated Staff Housing programme, the 2017- 2019 Head of Service Strategic Plan and other activities of the service.

What’s that now?

Apparently, the Federal Government has so far committed over NGN 30bn for the execution of affordable houses for the civil servants under this housing programme which they launched in 2016.

The housing programme, according to Oyo-Ita has been a collaborative effort between her office, the developers, the Ministry of Housing and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria especially in the area of mortgage facilities for civil servants.

Who knew?

Or more importantly, where are these houses?
