The cast of one of the best-selling books, “Children of Blood and Bone,” has been announced, revealing Nigerian singer Ayra Starr as part of the ensemble in the upcoming film.
“Children of Blood and Bone” is set in an African fantasy kingdom and follows the tale of a young woman on a quest to reclaim her people’s stolen magic.
The book, penned by Tomi Adeyemi, will be adapted into a Hollywood movie featuring an all-black cast, including Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Damson Idris, Pamilerin Ayodeki, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Saniyya Sidney, Temi Fagbenle, Zackary Momoh, Ayra Starr, Shamz Garuba, Kola Banjo, Dianna Babnicova, Lashana Lynch, Amandla Stenberg, Thuso Mbedu, Tosin Cole, and others.
The film is set to be released by 2027 and is currently in production. Development of the film has been ongoing for some time, with Lucasfilm, the studio behind “Star Wars,” set to produce it. In 2017, reports indicated that Fox 2000 had acquired the rights to the book before Disney acquired 21st Century Fox. Rick Famuyiwa, the director of “Dope” (2015), was attached to adapt the screenplay.
