Urban dictionary defines being “Woke” as being aware, i.e. knowing what’s going on in the community.
You know those Nigerians on twitter that always like to sound intelligent, like they know everything?
Or those who argue relentlessly, without really listening? Or those who like to contest every itty-bitty thing, just to make a point? Just because they think they’re ‘woke’?
In our neck of the woods, these fellas are called ‘oversabi‘ or ‘wailing wailers’.
Well, for all the ‘woke’ folks on Twitter, this tweep has a few words for you.
Listen and take copious notes.
This thread is about "woke" Twitter. You know yourselves. If you feel a certain way about anything in this thread you're probably guilty?.

First things first. Being woke and being aware are two separate things. "Woke" Twitter has changed what it means to be "educated".

Dragging someone for stating something you disagree with is not being woke. It's called being arrogant. Google the difference.

Let's get something clear here I'm just as well versed in our community struggles and so on and so forth but I know my limits.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Googling a couple words about a topic and memorizing a few terms doesn't make you an "expert" on any social issue. Please fix up.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Many people here that are "woke" on Twitter are usually young and inexperienced in many of these issues yet make it a point to "educate"
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Woke Twitter is basically anyone who feels the need to look smart for their TL and have no agenda other than ego boost.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
You wanna be an activist? It's not on Twitter. Go out there and make a difference. Be part of the change you wish to see in the world.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016

A person that actually cares about change and education isn't concerned with being "woke" or whatever else y'all think you are.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Scenario: Coudjo says something I disagree with. Bet since I'm woke let me quote his tweet and "educate" him because well I'm "smarter"
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Y'all make real issues fall through the cracks with your sick need to seem educated and smart.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Black people are being killed unfairly are such a high rate that it's almost comparable to endangered species. But no let me be woke instead
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Let me worry about some white kid wearing a piece of clothing for appreciation and looks instead of the unfair justice system in the US.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Our parents worked hard 2 bring us to America to educate ourselves and be successful but instead let me be "woke" on Twitter. It's the trend
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
It's all about trends with y'all. Whatever is in "style" at the moment is what I need to focus on. Y'all just followers no pun intended
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Your ignorance is interfering with your ability to actually have a decent conversation with someone you disagree with. How sway.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Understand something being "woke" doesn't make you educated necessarily. But it sure as hell makes you look stupid half the time.

Now let's discuss "Twitter feminism". Feminism: the belief that women are entitled to the same social political and economic rights as men.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Any logical man and woman that has a functional brain and fears God believes in actual feminism.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
But notice there's a difference between feminism and "Twitter feminism"? It's all about approach. Let me explain this further.
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Many of my friends are actually smart and educated and do support actual feminism. But they have said something wrong and got dragged for it
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016

— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Some of them then get frustrated and tired of Twitter feminism and basically miss the point of actual feminism sometimes. See the problem?
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
I wholeheartedly support feminism and I think women deserve all that and more wlh but feminism on Twitter is poisonous
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Racial injustices is a common theme here in America but no that doesn't matter as much as me looking smart on fucking Twitter. Twitter?

My people are being targeted by police officers left and right and we're searching for equality but no let me be "woke" on Twitter
— Abu Bakr ? (@LL_Coudjo) September 9, 2016
Learn to separate issues. Not everything is mutually exclusive. If you wanna be "woke" and feel smart and educated have at it just idaaaf
