Every day, there are people who keep our eyes glued to our phone screens as we read their rants, opinions, perspectives on political and social matters, etc. Sometimes, they are just downright ridiculous. We make it our job to take down the names of these noisemakers.
Here’s our list from today:
1 Donald Tusk
At 2.40 pm in London today, on the Westminister Bridge, there was a terrorist incident. An attacker driving a grey Hyundai i40 struck about a dozen pedestrians leaving one woman dead, while several others sustained “catastrophic injuries. After the car crashed into the bridge railings, the attacker ran out and stabbed a police officer. He was shot by other officers and died.
At last count, four people, including a police officer and an attacker, are dead and 20 others are injured.
The president of the European Council and others send their condolences. Do see below:
My thoughts are with the victims of the Westminster attack. Europe stands firm with the UK against terror and ready to help.

To the policeman who was killed today at Westminster protecting lives in our parliament, you are a true British hero. #wearenotafraid

So sad.
2. Juliet Kego
Nigeria had her own fair share of a ‘terrorist incident’ yesterday.
Yesterday, gunmen attacked the Zaki Biam market in Benue state and began shooting sporadically. Lots of lives were lost and president Buhari issued a statement.
“Last Friday, thousands of people fled Otodo Gbame, a large informal fishing community as bulldozers tore through shanties in what has been described by civil societies groups as defiance of an existing order by the Lagos state government.
The homes of over 3,000 people in Otodo-Gbame community in Lagos were destroyed and the residents had no inclination that this was going to be done.”
Poet and speaker, Juliet Kego is pained.

RIP!A horrible deja vu of violence & impunity. Nothing learnt from history..

I don't know the next city that will burn and it's not being pessimistic but realistic based on our past patterns; another WILL burn, sadly!
— Whole Women Network Co-op (@wwncoop) March 22, 2017
Until we have an enforcement and legal environment that work and mete CONSEQUENCES to perpetrators AND leaders, impunity persists, period!

*Sigh*
3. Jude Feranmi
Juliet is not the only one who thinks we’ve lost our priorities as a nation. Jude Feranmi, KOWA party National leader, chimes in agreement.
Nigeria is an unfortunately unique country.
I know this is 'exceptionalism' but I have no other explanations.
We move on so fast!

3. Tunde Leye
Tunde Leye, while musing on the issue, was inspired to ask:
It is easy for some of us to "believe in Nigeria"
But that person in Zaki Biam, or in Otodo Gbame how do they believe?— Tunde Leye (@tundeleye) March 22, 2017
So tragic that our educated can't see that nonchalance about the underprivileged/oppressed is part of why the whole country is static. https://t.co/9txjRogP4P
— Ayo Sogunro (@ayosogunro) March 22, 2017
the Nigerian dream is about advancing into higher degrees of insulation from the majority in that oppressed state.
— Tunde Leye (@tundeleye) March 22, 2017
Whatever shall we do?
4. Sonia Maduabuchi
Cheta Nwanze tackled the misleading, yet popular notion Nigerians have that we are better than Venezuela. But this tweep was not ready to swallow the bitter pill.

Sonia had to state categorically that Venezuela is not Nigeria’s mate with these few points of hers:

We hope they got that.
5 Chidi Odinkalu
In matters ridiculous beyond compare, this is to bring to your notice the protesters-for-hire crew.
Seeing as we are in a recession and people must feed their families, Nigerians are willing and ready to protest about anything – even things that will benefit them, like this organised protest against Amnesty International.
See receipts below:

What a shame shouldn't @PoliceNG do something about this.
