Speaking at a joint press conference in Accra with Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Ablakwa, Odumegwu-Ojukwu said viral protest videos had raised concerns in Nigeria. She revealed that President Bola Tinubu sent her as a special envoy to assess the situation.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has cautioned Nigerians travelling to the United States to use their visas responsibly and strictly for the purpose they were issued.

In a statement on Thursday, NOA Director-General Lanre Issa-Onilu stressed that U.S. authorities continue to monitor visa holders even after entry. He warned that violating immigration rules or engaging in unlawful activities could lead to visa revocation or deportation.

He advised travellers to avoid overstaying or working illegally, adding that such actions damage Nigeria’s image and personal prospects abroad.

Oil suppliers warn Dangote Refinery against direct distribution plan

Dangote

The Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA) has cautioned the Dangote Petroleum Refinery against its plan to distribute refined products directly to end-users, warning it could cause nationwide supply disruptions, scarcity, and collapse of existing networks.

Speaking at the association’s Annual General Meeting in Abuja, NOGASA President Bennett Korie urged Dangote to reconsider and consult stakeholders before implementing the plan. He also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene, noting that Dangote alone cannot sustainably manage nationwide distribution.

This warning comes as petrol prices at depots surged from ₦815 to ₦870 per litre on Thursday.

EFCC continues recovery of funds from collapsed CBEX ponzi scheme

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it is still in the process of recovering funds tied to the collapsed CBEX Global Investment scheme, which defrauded about 600,000 Nigerians of ₦1.3 trillion.

CBEX, a Ponzi scheme that collapsed in April 2025, promised investors returns of up to 88% without regulatory approval. Some of its promoters have been arrested and charged in court. On July 7, Awerosuo Otorudo and Chukwuebuka Ehirim were arraigned before Justice Mohammed Umar for alleged illegal financial operations.

The EFCC urged affected investors to remain patient as efforts continue to recover and return the stolen funds.
