Senate resumes public hearing on Tax Reform Bills

The Senate Committee on Finance is set to begin its public hearing on four Tax Reform Bills on Monday, February 24, while the House of Representatives will hold its hearing on Wednesday, February 26.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented the four Tax Reform Bills—the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, the Joint Revenue Board Bill, and the Nigeria Tax Bill—to the National Assembly. This initiative is part of his administration’s commitment to creating a more efficient and equitable tax system in the country.
NPF advises content creators on Cybercrimes Act

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) had advised content creators and influencers to understand the laws written in the Cybercrimes Prohibition and Prevention Act 2024 while creating content for their community.
The Commissioner of Police for the Kano State Command, Salman Dogo Garba, through the command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, advised participants to be mindful of their safety and security due to their more significant presence in public spaces.
Garba noted their important role in promoting inter-ethnic harmony and national unity, urging them to prioritise these principles for the betterment of the country.
FG says property owners affected by the Coastal Highway will receive additional compensation

The federal government has guaranteed that owners of properties demolished along the Right of Way (RoW) of the ongoing Lagos/Calabar Coastal highway will receive extra compensation.
Works Minister David Umahi communicated this commitment during a stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos yesterday.
Participants in the meeting asked when they would receive their compensation and what issues the government had received from certain contractors.
Nigeria and China sign €7.6 billion clean energy deal

Nigeria and China have entered into a €7.6 billion agreement focused on green hydrogen energy, aimed at gradually moving away from fossil fuels towards cleaner energy solutions, by global best practices.
The deal was finalised over the weekend in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, involving the Federal Government, APPL Hydrogen Limited (AHL), and the Chinese company LONGi Green Energy Technology Company Limited (LGETCL).
The initiative will be developed within the Liberty Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) located in Atabrikang, Ibeno Local Government Area of the state.
Dangote Refinery reveals that it has enough fuel to meet Nigerians’ fuel demands

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, disclosed that the refinery holds over 500 million litres of petrol in its storage.
He further indicated that the facility now produces sufficient fuel for domestic use and export. Dangote made these remarks during a tour of the $20 billion facility in Lekki, accompanied by Zambia’s Minister for Energy, Makozo Chikote.
The Zambian minister’s visit aimed to explore potential collaboration with Dangote to address his country’s energy security challenges.
