Top 5 Stories Of The Day | TCN Reveals Power Supply to Lagos Reduced by 350MW Over Faulty Transmission Lines

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported a major fault on its Omotoso-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, causing a significant drop in electricity supply to Lagos.

In a statement on Tuesday, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, explained that the power line snapped between towers 420 and 422 on March 9. This has led to a reduction of about 350 megawatts (MW) in the electricity supplied to the state.

Mbah said the issue has affected Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC), resulting in serious load shedding in those areas.

Tinubu instructs Fubara to comply with Supreme Court’s rule

President Bola Tinubu has urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to fully and immediately comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling to maintain peace in Rivers State.

Emphasizing the importance of the rule of law, the President stated that governance and order cannot exist without it.

Addressing a request for his intervention in the state’s political crisis, he made it clear that the responsibility now lies with Fubara.

“Please return home and assist him in implementing those recommendations as quickly as possible,” Tinubu said. “The responsibility is now yours. Support him, as I have both privately and publicly advised and guided the governor.”

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan reports sexual harassment case to Inter-Paraliamentary Union in New York

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has filed a complaint against Senate President Godswill Akpabio with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Speaking at the IPU meeting held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Tuesday, March 11, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio had made inappropriate advances toward her.

Her accusation came after a dispute with Akpabio regarding the seating arrangement in the Senate chamber.

During the meeting, she stated that she is seeking justice and calling on international democratic bodies to intervene in what she describes as her “unlawful suspension” from the Nigerian Senate.

Fuel marketers foresee ₦800/litre due to reduction in imported petrol prices

Competition in the downstream oil sector has intensified as major oil marketers have begun offering petrol at prices lower than the ₦825 per litre gantry loading cost set by Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

This comes after marketers disclosed that the landing cost of imported Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has dropped to ₦774 per litre. They noted that if the trend continues, pump prices could decrease to around ₦800 per litre.

According to dealers, the current landing cost of ₦774 per litre (which accounts for expenses such as shipping, import duties, and exchange rates) represents a ₦50 reduction compared to the ₦825 per litre price at Dangote Refinery’s loading gantry.
