Trump promised me $25,000 but… – Father of slain soldier

According to Washington Post, a grieving military father, Chris Baldridge, disclosed that President Donald Trump offered him $25,000 after his son was killed but the president didn’t follow through.

Baldridge’s son, Army Sgt. Dillon Baldridge, was killed in June during a suspected insider attack by an Afghan police officer.

Baldridge said during a call with the President, Trump offered to write him a personal cheque for $25,000 and said he would work to establish an online fundraiser for the family. Neither has yet happened, Baldridge told The Post.

Baldridge said, “I could not believe he was saying that, and I wish I had it recorded because the man did say this. He said, ‘No other president has ever done something like this,’ but he said, ‘I’m going to do it.'”

However, a White House spokeswoman told The Post that the cheque had now been sent.

Baldridge’s claim comes after a Florida congresswoman, Rep. Frederica Wilson on Wednesday accused Trump of calling the Widow of Sgt David Johnson who was killed in Niger, and told her that the Sgt knew what he signed up for – an allegation Cowanda Jones-Johnson, the soldier’s mother, on Wednesday was accurate.

“President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband,” Jones-Johnson said.

President Trump has since denied the allegations, claiming Rep. Wilson fabricated the story and that he has proof.
