“We want to educate you”- ACN throws more barbs at PDP over Fashola criticism

by Lekan Olanrewaju

The Lagos State Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has come to the defence of Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, dismissing criticism directed his way by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as “childish”.

Governor Fashola had been criticised by the PDP for the celebration of days in office and achievements, which the party described as “propagandist and actionable”. The ACN has however defended the governor, stating that the PDP had no achievements to point to after ruling the country for 12 years, and that the governor’s celebrations were simply engagement forums between the government and various stakeholders.

“The PDP has nothing to point to as its achievements in Nigeria after 12 years in power.” read a statement released by the Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Joe Igbokwe. “It has plundered resources running into trillions of naira. The PDP is advised to first go and atone to Nigerians for destroying the rich and vibrant country, rather than making ignorant statements.”

“The Lagos PDP misconstrued the celebrations, which are avenues for fruitful engagement with vital stakeholders in the state. We want to educate the party, because what they are criticising is a meaningful forum that offers the governor an opportunity to report to select stakeholders and get their feedback.”

“We want to let Lagos PDP know that Fashola is celebrating milestones the Lagosians will ever see as a golden era in the annals of the state’s history. We want to let the PDP know that unlike their party and its so-called governments that are seized with unending profligacy, the celebrations of days in office by Fashola’s government are only meant as strategic engagement forum between the governor and different stakeholders.
