The Facebook owned messaging giant has been adding some BBM-esque functionalities of late, including “read” status and message encryption. Rumours of VoIP functionality have been flying around for a while now and just yesterday more “evidence” was unearthed to corroborate these claims.
Usually WhatsApp has two versions of the Android app available for Android – one via the Play Store, the other directly from it’s website. As it turns out, the website version often contains hidden code that point to features WhatsApp plan for the future.Here’s what the developers at Android World have been able to reveal from the most recent website version.
The above screenshot depicts a working interface for making voice calls on WhatsApp, including interfaces for handling in-call, call logs and call status screens. While the screenshots appear to prove beyond doubt that voice call feature is coming soon, there is so far no official statement from WhatsApp Inc on the availability of this feature.
