Where’s the money they were paid for ‘Fayose impeachment project?’ – Ekiti APC youth have come for Omirin, Ojudu

by Kolapo Olapoju

The unfolding drama in the attempt to impeach Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, has just taken a whole new dimension.

A quick recap- 19 lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress, who had been on exile for months, returned to the state with the sole goal of impeaching Fayose, who has employed all forms of nefarious tactics to frustrate their efforts.

The persons believed to be commandeering the plot to impeach the governor are the illegally impeached Speaker of the State House of Assembly and a member of the senate in the state, Senator Babafemi Ojudu.

Up until now, their attempts have been futile, while they pulled the strings behind the scene.

However, the Ekiti APC Youths Congress (EAYC) are about to bring them into the spotlight, with accusations of financial impropriety and selfish ambition.

The group has accused the pair, Ojudu and Omirin of aspiring to be Governor and Acting Governor respectively, hence their determination to oust Fayose.

The Ekiti APC Youths Congress have also demanded the location of the N250 million allegedly collected for the impeachment of Fayose and his deputy, Dr Olusola Eleka as well as another N200 million allegedly released for the April 11 House of Assembly election.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the APC youths blamed Ojudu and Omirin for the party’s dismal outing in the April 11 House of Assembly election.

The release which was signed by Tope Ogunkuade and Comrade Tunji Adeleye, Convener and Secretary respectively, said: “By running after Governor Fayose with impeachment despite that the people were openly against it, they created public sympathy for Fayose and hatred for the APC.

“The truth is that Ojudu and Omirin’s desperate ambition to be Governor and Acting Governor respectively made our party to lose the House of Assembly election woefully and we wish to warn the duo of Ojudu and Omirin to stop trading with our party,” EAYC said.

“We read it online that N250 million was collected by Ojudu for the Fayose’s impeachment project and we can’t doubt this because we know how much he (Ojudu) made from Fayose’s impeachment in 2006.

“It was from the proceeds of Fayose’s impeachment project in 2006 and Dr Kayode Fayemi’s rerun election of 2009 that Ojudu built his house in Ado-Ekiti.
