Dasuki’s absence in court stalls trial

Justice Baba Yusuf of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has refused to commence proceedings on the trial of the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd).

The judge has insisted on the presence of Sambo Dasuki in court, before he makes a ruling on the case.

Dasuki’s co-accused, a former Director of Finanance and Administration in the Office of the NSA, Shuaibu Salisu, and a former Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Aminu Baba-Kusa, were however, present in court.

Dasuki’s lawyers, Joseph Daudu and Ahmed Raji, were also absent in court, but it was reported that they had written to the court asking for an adjournment of the case because of another legal engagement in Kogi State.

Meanwhile, the prosecuting counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), has assured the judge that Dasuki would be produced in court.

He told Justice Yusuf that those conveying him to court had assured him that they were on their way, after which he stood down till Dasuki’s arrival.
