The weekend is officially here (no, we don’t mean the singer), and there are so many ways for you to focus on yourself as you rejuvenate yourself from the stress of the week.
At Ynaija, we understand how difficult it is to do this ‘adulting’ thing, and we believe life would be much easier if money did indeed grow on trees.
Taking care of yourself should always be a priority, even though there are always circumstances where we are forced to put others before ourselves.
This weekend, Ynaija is suggesting ten ways in which you can rejuvenate yourself as you prepare for the stress and the week ahead.
Here Are Our 10 Ways to Rejuvenate Yourself this Weekend
- Buy yourself something nice

Last week was salary week, and though there might be several things you’re saving for, including black tax. That doesn’t mean you don’t have needs also. Take yourself out and buy yourself something you’ve been craving. Is it a solo date at a restaurant? Your skincare products, or perhaps a new phone?
- Prepare ahead of next week

We know this may be the last thing on your mind right now, but if you are going to start the following week on a good note, it’s best to set up reminders and keep everything in check if you truly want to enjoy this weekend without any worries.
- Netflix and Chill

Have you been hearing about the latest shows, and you have no clue on what they’re about? This might be the best time to start these shows so you can know what’s up to date in the film world. This weekend should be all about you feeling comfortable in your own home and away from capitalism.
- Revive yourself with some good sleep

Waking every day by 5 a.m. must be exhausting (we know we do it, too). One of the best things you could do for your body and mind is to take a long and healthy nap, turn off your alarm, and give your body the sleep it deserves.
- Paint the town red

We’re all busy these days, and it’s getting increasingly difficult to hang out with friends like you used to. Plan a spontaneous outing with your friends, visit an arcade, a cinema, a restaurant, an art gallery, or even a party this weekend. If you would rather not be home alone, we have suggested a list of events you can attend this weekend.
- Get a new look for the month

This is your wake-up call to treat yourself to some proper grooming. Visit the spa, get a new hairstyle, trim your eyebrows, and make yourself pretty or handsome for the new month. December is less than a month away, and you should prepare for the festive season.
- Read a book

A calming and relaxing mood is also advised this weekend, as you can pick up a book and escape into a world created by your favourite author. Join in on the conversation on communities created on social media as you all discuss the highs and lows of the book.
- Restock your pantry

Working 9-5 every day can cause you to lose focus on pending matters in your home, such as restocking the pantry with things you need. Check your store, note the items that are almost depleted, and fill them before the week begins, and you’re surprised to see your sachet of milk has finished.
- Speak with your loved ones

When did you last speak on the phone with a friend, sibling, or parent? You might not know it, but you need their love and support more than you’re willing to let on. Pick up your phone and speak with your loved ones; try to update them about your life and get them to talk to you about theirs. Stay in the loop with each other so you don’t lose track of yourselves or grow apart due to your inability to physically see each other regularly.
- Rearrange your home

Before you say it, we know. More chores, right? But you barely take note of the state of your home when you’re out of the house by 6 a.m. and returning at night. You could take this chance to look around, do some laundry, and clean your house.
