Delta state government has declared Wednesday 4th February as work-free day to enable citizens of the state to welcome President Goodluck Jonathan during his Presidential campaign rally.
Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan announced this after his unscheduled inspection visit to Asaba, the venue of the rally.
He said the work-free day will give Jonathan’s supporters an opportunity to come out en masse and welcome their president ahead of the polls later this month.
Uduaghan announced the readiness of the state to receive Jonathan and his campaign team stating that the leadership of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, and the campaign team would be received in Asaba for the party’s presidential rally.
Uduaghan had declared the re-election of Jonathan for another term in office as non-negotiable for the people of the South South geo-political zone. He said the President deserved another four years in office because he was in touch with the plight of the Niger Delta region.
“The biggest fish in this 2015 election is President Goodluck Jonathan who is re- contesting again as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he is not just a son of this area, it is significant that we re- elect him because he understands our problems, when we cry to him, he listens. It is our responsibility to vote for him, we did it before and we shall do it again,” he said.
