The All Progressives Congress’ Governors will today, July 2, hold an emergency meeting to discuss the crisis in the party over the National Assembly leadership election.
In the past one month, the party has been immersed in a crisis caused by the election of Bukola Saraki as Senate President and Yakubu Dogara as Speaker against the wishes of the leadership of the APC.
Ahmad Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila were the party’s preferred candidates for both positions.
Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, issued a notice to this effect on Tuesday, June 30.
Okorocha, who is the chairman of the progressive governors, invited his colleagues to the meeting which is expected to hold at the Imo lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.
The meeting will commence at 8pm and the governors are expected to take a position ahead of the APC national executive committee (NEC) which will hold on Friday, July 3.
All the major parties involved in the crisis will be present at the NEC meeting on Friday.
