Former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), is the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary.
Buhari, who is running a campaign hinged on curbing corruption, is set to beat ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; Kano Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; Imo governor, Rochas Okorocha and Leadership Newspapers Publisher, Sam Nda-Isaiah to win the ticket to represent the major opposition party at the general elections which is scheduled to take place in February 2015.
According to our correspondent who is reporting from the Surulere, Lagos venue of the primaries: “They have finished sorting the ballot papers, and are now formally counting the votes. Based on what we heard during the sorting out process, it is safe to call it a victory for Muhammadu Buhari, who by the end of today will be officially declared the APC’s presidential candidate.”
Buhari who led the push for a merger between the now defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in February 2013 will now face off with incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan to contest for ownership of the keys to Aso Rock Presidential Villa two years after the historic merger.
We shall bring you more details soon.
