by Azeez Adeniyi

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent names of two new ministerial nominees to the senate for confirmation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the letter containing the names of the nominees arrived the Senate on Tuesday evening.

The nominees are from Kogi and Gombe states

The Kogi nominee will be replacing James Ocholi, the late minister of state for labour, while the one from Gombe would replace Amina Mohammed, former minister for environment, who is the current United Nations deputy secretary- general.

Recall that the Senate has decided not to confirm any nominee from President Muhammadu Buhari.

The upper chamber had refused to confirm the nominees forresident electoral commissioners (RECs) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stating that the presidency was disregarding its proceedings.

The lawmakers berated the president for appearing to be doing nothing about their rejection of Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the EFCC.
