Ekiti lawmaker suspended for demanding Fayose’s resignation

Ekiti State House of Assembly member, Gboyega Aribisogan, on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Governor Ayodele Fayose for allegedly usurping the powers of the Speaker, Kolawole Oluwawole.

Aribisogan (Ikole 1) also asked the Speaker to resign having allegedly surrendered his authority to the governor, Punch reports.

Aribisogan told journalists on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti that he made these demands in his capacity as the Minority Leader, having defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, a few hours after making the demand, the Ekiti State House of Assembly sat and passed a resolution suspending Aribisogan, indefinitely, from the assembly.

He had earlier been suspended for 180 legislative days by the assembly for alleged anti-party activities.

The lawmakers at the plenary also resolved to bar him within a 1km-radius of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Complex till further notice.
