Ex-Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh denied bail

Alex Badeh, a former Chief of Defence Staff, has been denied bail by a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja.

Badeh, who’s being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, is facing a 10-count charge of criminal breach of trust and corruption to the tune N3.9bn.

The former CDS was scheduled to be arraigned before Justice Okon Abang on Thursday, but his case was pushed forward to March 7 as a result of the absence of the judge.

Ruling on Badeh’s bail application on Friday, the judge, James Tosho held that due to the subsisting remand order, which has not been set aside by a magistrate court in Lagos, he would not give an order for the release of the applicant.

Justice Tosho explained that Badeh only filed an application for bail, and not an application to set aside the order of the magistrate court which the EFCC is using as the basis of keeping him in custody.
