Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari on Thursday, said the Federal Government is considering a law that would make it compulsory for every girl child to get at least, a secondary school education.
She said this at the Nigerian Institute of Management’s, NIM, Women-in-Management and Leadership Conference in Abuja.
Aisha Buhari, who was represented by the wife of the Nasarawa State Governor, Mrs. Mairo Al-Makura, disclosed that the Bill would be facilitated by the Federal Government through the free education policy and forwarded to the National Assembly for approval.
According to her, this is because education is the key to liberation and empowerment of the girl child.
She said, “Education changes the outlook of a person and drives away poverty of the mind and the pocket. An educationally empowered girl child of today is the women professional of tomorrow.”
