Rivers State is in the news again and not for a savoury purpose.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Sports, Fred Igwe has allegedly been shot by yet to be identified gunmen at the Eleme interchange.
The incident was confirmed by the state police command through the DSP, Angela Agabe.
According to sources, the commissioner was in a Toyota Corolla with plate number GCG 11, when the gunmen overtook his vehicle around Akpajo area, and opened fire on him.
The source ruled out robbery, saying that the gunmen acted more like assassins.
The incident reportedly happened at about 8:15pm on Sunday.
