President Trump announced at an event in Miami, Friday that he would be effecting changes in U.S. foreign policy toward Cuba effective immediately.
The President said he is rolling back former President Barack Obama’s steps towards normalization in U.S.-Cuba relations, “Effective immediately, I am canceling the last administration’s completely one-sided deal with Cuba”.
The rollback will place restrictions on Americans traveling to Cuba and also shut down any U.S. business dealings with the island’s military. Our embassy remains open in the hopes that our countries can forge a much stronger and better path,” Trump said.
Trump made his announcement Friday as the fulfillment of a campaign pledge to turn back former President Barack Obama’s diplomatic outreach to the country.
“I keep my promises,” Trump said. “And now that I am your president, America will expose the crimes of the Castro regime.”
