President Muhammadu Buhari was the most popular Nigerian 2014/2015. His popularity was such that every stumbling block erected on his journey to the Aso Villa was surmounted. The most grievous rumour of his non-possession of O’level certificate couldn’t fly as his supporters concluded that even if he has a “NEPA bill” they will vote for him which they did.
However, there have been some errors that seem to be increasing day in day out as it relates to this Administration. The fact is President Buhari is not a perfect man like everybody but, at this juncture, there should be a second look at the way things happen in this administration.
The wife of the President in an interview with BBC once complained about some individuals that have taken over the President to destroy his administration. This same accusation was re-echoed by Senator Shehu Sani that some cabals are running a government within the Buhari Presidency.
This allegation has been rebuffed severally by the President, his aides and the Vice President but a closer look at events as it unfolds shows all is definitely not well with this administration as there is an unseen hand behind all these errors that are accumulating day by day.
The office of the President has access to the best advise it needs anyday and anytime. As a result, decisions and instructions coming from that exalted office must not (always) be greeted with criticisms and condemnation.
Compiling such errors will take over the entire page of this article but Nigerians are familiar with many of it that should not be associated with a Muhammadu Buhari Presidency.
The Presidency till date has extended the tenure of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Dr Jamila Shuara, a woman that was due for retirement since February 2016. Also, the President once sacked some Vice Chancellors of Federal Universities without recourse to the established guidelines of engagement and disengagement, the President later realised this error but failed to correct it.
The same error is the latest reinstatement of Mallam Abdulrasheed Maina former head of Presidential Task Team on Pension Reforms that was eventually sacked yesterday October 23, 2017.
The Presidency neither denied nor confirmed if it has knowledge about the reinstatement of Maina, the Minister of Interior claimed he was posted to his ministry by the Head of Service, the Head of Service claimed its not from her.
The question remains, who reinstated Maina with a double promotion from an Assistant Director to a Director? The Presidency has been dragged through the mud once again.
It’s advised that President Buhari weed his administration of saboteurs before they destroy what’s left of his Presidency.
