The Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Alhassan Rirum, has explained that the investigation of the Emir of Kano, Mohammed Sanusi II, is un-connnected with a similar exercise of the Executive.
The Kano Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission had, last week, announced an inquiry into the alleged misappropriations of funds of the Kano Emirate Council, running to N6 billion.
Rirum said the investigation by the legislators centres on Sanusi and it was raised by a member of the House, Ibrahim Gama (Nasarawa state constituency).
Gama had on Wednesday leveled eight charges against the monarch and urged the House to immediately carry out an investigation.
The allegations include defamation of character, breach of oath of office/oath of allegiance, abuse of office privileges and protocol, political and religious interference, unguided utterances, misappropriation of public funds, misrepresentation at public gatherings and undue criticism of the Buhari-led administration.
