The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) will be 17 tomorrow, September 13, 2016, and it has pledged to have a peaceful procession.
MASSOB’s religious administrator, Apostle Ezichukwu, made the pledge on Monday in Onitsha while speaking with newsmen.
He promised that during the procession, no one would be harassed and normal businesses activities will not be disturbed. He urged security agencies not to disrupt the event.
Reaffirming that the procession will be non-violent, Ezichukwu, urged the residents including traders and civil servants to go about their normal businesses.
He said the struggle of the Ralph Uwazuruike-led MASSOB, now called Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), did not encourage violence.
“We have warned members against violent behaviour,” he said. “The procession will be peaceful and there will be no sit-at-home.”
Mr. Ezichukwu said the group was walking towards a non-violent self-determination for the people of the Southeast.
“We have been marginalised for years in a country we believed we helped to build and should be part and of.
“MASSOB faithful are in a two-day prayer to ensure free celebration,” he said.
