According to President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s status as a rich country, is not factual.
Buhari says that pointers and parameters used to evaluate whether or not a country is rich, such as economic advancement, improved social services were lacking.
The President said this on Monday, August 10, when he received the outgoing President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Dr. Donald Kaberuka and other officials of the bank.
Buhari said the elites and privileged Nigerians have the obligation to make sacrifices in order to assist the country in successfully tackling its economic and security problems.
He was quoted to have said: “With the shock of falling oil prices, lack of revenues, and insecurity, the Nigerian elites must now wake up and provide the right guidance in their communities, and also lead the economy on the right path more than they used to do”.
