Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili has reacted to attempts by the State Security Service (SSS) to arrest ex-FCT Minister and member of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir el-Rufai over alleged “provocative comments” made by the latter.
Ezekwesili reacted on her Twitter timeline urging both sides to learn the language of democracy adding that “hard words kill democracy.”

Ezekwesili who was the Vice President of the World Bank for Africa said she wished the former minister, whom she served with under the President Olusegun Obasanjo administration, had “responded to the invitation of the SSS at the first instance” to clarify his speech which, according to her, was not about inciting violence.

Officials of the security agency had yesterday stormed el-Rufai’s residence in a bid to take him in for questioning but he was absent. Reports say SSS officials later visited another house said to belong to el-Rufai with a search warrant but also failed to arrest him.
El-Rufai has been a vocal opponent of the Goodluck Jonathan administration and its Transformation Agenda.
