Embattled Lawyer, Ricky Tarfa, has filed a fundamental rights suit against the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) and telecommunication giant, MTN, over the violation of his privacy.
Tarfa, who is currently under trial for allegedly obstructing justice, also named the EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu, top lawyer, Femi Falana and Rashidatou Abdou in the said suit.
He is asking the court to order the defendants to pay him the sum of N5 billion as damages.
He is praying a court to declare that his right to privacy was violated when his mobile phone was assessed without his permission and his call records given to New York based Sahara Reporters and other news portal.
It would be recalled that Tarfa, a senior advocate of Nigeria, had earlier admitted to paying the sum of N250,000 to Justice Yunusa of a Federal High Court.
He, however, said that the payment was a gift to the judge for the funeral of his father.
