Commissioner for Information and Communications of Rivers state, Austin Tam-George has reacted to Professor Itse Sagay’s faulting of the Supreme Court’s decision which declared Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Nyesom Wike as the winner of the state’s 2015 governorship election.
The commissioner put Sagay on blast for standing behind former governor Rotimi Amaechi when he is aware of his corrupt acts.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 14, Tam-George said that given the professor’s faulting of the apex court’s decision, he wondered if Sagay wanted to be the pioneer of the sick jurisprudence of “everybody knows,” even without proof.
Tam-George also questioned why Sagay would be “re-litigating a settled matter in the street in the manner he did,” while stating that the professor of law was making his assertions off the fickle lies mindlessly spread by the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC.
He also stated that Wike’s government would continually defeat any form of darkness threatening to take over the state why condemning APC’s attack on the Supreme Court after the judgement.
He further said: “We condemn this carefully orchestrated campaign of calumny launched by the APC and its cowardly surrogates against Nigeria’s justice system, which is the bedrock of our evolving constitutional democracy.
“Working with other Nigerians and our sister states in the Niger Delta region, the government and people of Rivers State will continue to defeat the dark political fundamentalism of the APC.
“We call on the international community to restrain the APC from its desperate attempts to politically dominate our people and plunder the resources of our land.”
