You’ve probably heard of the snub Oba Akiola, the Oba of Lagos, gave the Ooni of Ife at a public event, which the Oba of Lagos is now allegedly pinning on poor eyesight. If you missed it, here it is.

It’s generated quite the uproar on Twitter, with members of the Yoruba clan slamming Oba Akiola for the unbelievable disrespect. Apparently, in matters of hierarchy, the Oba of Lagos cannot smell the Ooni of Ife’s shoes, the latter having descended from Oduduwa and all that.
