Rhodes-Vivour: opposition leaders plotting to unseat Tinubu in 2027

Former Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, says opposition leaders are working behind the scenes to build a coalition strong enough to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the next general election.
Rhodes-Vivour stressed the need for unity among opposition parties, noting that the division between Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar in 2023 handed Tinubu an advantage. “We cannot afford to divide our votes again,” he said.
He revealed that talks are ongoing to form a unified political front that would avoid repeating past mistakes, saying, “The conversation now is that we are working to put a coalition together.”
Buhari recuperating in London after ICU discharge

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly been ill and was recently discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in the United Kingdom.
According to Empowered Newswire, a close relative revealed that Buhari took ill during a routine medical check-up in London and was subsequently admitted to the ICU. He was discharged last week.
While the specific nature of his illness remains undisclosed, the former president is said to be recuperating and will return to Nigeria once he has fully recovered.
Saint Lucia confers highest national honour on President Tinubu

The government of Saint Lucia has conferred its highest national honour, Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL), on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Announcing the honour in an official post on X, the Saint Lucian government said the recognition was made by the Governor General in honour of Tinubu’s leadership and contributions. Tinubu received the award during his two-nation diplomatic tour of the Caribbean and South America.
During his visit, the president addressed a special joint session of Saint Lucia’s senate and house of assembly, where he emphasized the importance of unity among Africans and people of African descent, stressing the need for collective action towards a shared and prosperous future.
Elon Musk slams Trump and Congress over debt bill

Elon Musk has reignited his feud with former U.S. President Donald Trump, launching a scathing attack on Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” as it nears a Senate vote.
As lawmakers debated the bill on Monday, Musk took to X (formerly Twitter), condemning members of Congress who support it. He accused them of hypocrisy for backing what he called “the biggest debt increase in history,” warning that he would campaign against them in upcoming primaries.
Musk also threatened to publicly shame them with posters labeling them as “liars” and blaming them for raising the national debt by $5 trillion.
Telecom operators warn of temporary disruption in SIM services

The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has announced a temporary disruption of SIM-related services across all mobile networks in the country.
In a statement on Tuesday, ALTON Chairman Gbenga Adebayo and Publicity Secretary Damian Udeh explained that the disruption stems from a directive by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to transition to a new identity verification platform.
The operators assured the public that they are working to minimise the impact and restore full services as soon as the new system is fully integrated.
