Wanted journalist, Ahmed Salkida ‘arrested’ at Abuja airport

The Nigerian journalist, Ahmed Salkida, who was declared wanted by the Nigerian Army over the latest Chibok girls video has been reportedly arrested.

According to Sahara Reporters, Salkida was arrested on Monday after arriving the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport aboard Emirates flight EK 785 in Abuja.

He was declared wanted alongside Ahmad Bolori and Aisha Wakil over links with terrorist group, Boko Haram.

The journalist who has been in East Africa since he was declared wanted, had released a statement saying he would honour the Army’s invitation once he arrives the country.

He had said his status as a journalist who has links to the terrorist group was clearly known.

“Clearly, my status as a Nigerian journalist who has reported extensively, painstakingly and consistently on the Boko Haram menace in the country since 2006 is an open book known to Nigerians and the international community.

“Equally, my total allegiance and sacrifice to the Federal Republic of Nigeria is self evident. I have stayed within the creed of professional journalism in my work.”

Ahmad Bolori and Aisha Wakil had already been interrogated by the Nigerian Army.
