Top stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State have declared that any attempt to remove Governor Ayodele Fayose from his position would be stiffly resisted.
The leaders of the party, on Thursday, staged a protest in Ido Ekiti against an alleged plan by the Presidency to shut Fayose up – as he’s the only opposition voice in the country.
The protest was attended by members of the state cabinet and state leaders of the party.
The party leaders revealed their resolve to defend the governor with the last drop of their blood.
Speaking to pressmen, one of the party leaders, Ogunrinade Adeola, said the rally was organised to sensitise the people of the state against being used by the Presidency to victimise the governor.
“The people all trooped out in the last election to cast votes for Governor Ayodele Fayose because he did well in his first coming. Although they truncated his reign then, we won’t allow that this time.”
Also, the immediate past chairman of PDP, Idowu Faleye, reiterated the decision of the party members to defend the governor come what may.
“We are ready to resist any attempt to hijack powers from Fayose through the back door with our last drop of blood. We have sensitised our people and they know the truth. We will continue to expose the lies and scheming of the Federal Government against the governor.”
He also declared that the All Progressives Congress had lost relevance in the state.
“APC is now in the oblivion. They have destroyed their political base because they ran the state into N76bn debt. So Fayose cannot be blamed for being unable to pay workers. If former Governor Kayode Fayemi had not obtained loan in excess, Ekiti would not have run into this crisis.”
