In a lot of ways, 2016 has been a very stressful year. Hopefully, it hasn’t been as stressful for you as it has been for our dear nation, Nigeria.
Still, there is a lot to be thankful for. And so, in our special version of ’12 days of Christmas’, we’ll remind you – with the Good News only – of the reasons why things have not all been bad so far.

Just yesterday, some very wise Nigerians put together a fair that showcased the geniuses of kids who own businesses in Nigeria. There were bakers, and fashion designers and jewellery makers. There was even an innovative duo who own a social enterprise built around teaching kids how to clean!
There’s absolutely no better way to build the confidence of our youngsters in line with the promise that they are the leaders of tomorrow than such ventures. Yet, before this brilliant fair was put together, Tomisin Ogunnubi was already showing the promise on behalf of Nigerian kids.
In November, it was announced that she had completed the development of Android mobile tracking application called ‘My Locator’.
The application was developed as a result of a partnership between her school, Vivian Fowler Memorial College and the New Horizons Computer Learning Centre.
The tracking application which has been made available for download in Google’s PlayStore features a tracker which enables users to know their geographical location, view it on the map and be appropriately directed when lost.
In a distress situation, the app also has a feature that makes it possible to call the Lagos State emergency service number, 767, and get “the chance of being rescued from threatening emergencies or conditions” using a red emergency button on the screen.
