Unconfirmed reports suggest that President Muhammadu Buhari may have cancelled his one-day trip to Ogoniland, Rivers state.
The President was scheduled to personally flag off the Niger Delta clean up on Thursday, June 2.
According to Sahara Reporters, a presidential source revealed that President Buhari will be represented by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo
The report infers that the cancellation is as a result of the security threats to the President from militant group, Niger Delta Avengers.
The Avengers reportedly threatened to kill the President should he step foot in the Niger Delta region.
The militant group has claimed responsibility for the recent destruction of oil and pipeline installations in the Niger Delta.
