Bruce Jenner was involved in a crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu that left one person dead on Saturday. Now, the former Olympian and reality-show star has given his first statement about the accident, telling family members of the victim he was “praying for them.”
“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident,” Jenner said in a statement to US Weekly. “It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”
Jenner submitted to and passed a field sobriety test administered at the scene of the accident. Earlier reports indicated that police were investigating if Jenner had been texting before the crash; however, TMZ reports he was smoking, not using his phone.
