The Film Blog: The CEO and A Trip To Jamaica were shut out from the AMVCAs and we couldn’t be more pleased

AY and Funke Akindele in A Trip to Jamaica

It’s a small victory, but on a night where we had many things to upset about, we’re glad that we were reminded the world still makes a little bit of sense.

We know it’s totally going to seem like hating now, we don’t mind. Something has to give.

It’s this simple: bad movies shouldn’t be awarded, because they encourage people to either make bad movies, or to not even try to make good ones. This would be a disaster for any industry, how much more Nollywood which is finally hitting its stride. Especially in a year with such powerhouses as 76 and 93 Days. No. It would have been a disgrace.

AMVCA, kudos.
