Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has sued Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State for ‘falsely’ accusing her of being involved in the Halliburton corruption scandal.

A court summon dated July 20, 2016 was reportedly made available to online news platform, PREMIUM TIMES.

Fayose had in June said the president’s wife was the “Aisha Buhari” named in a U.S. court document, alleged to have been involved in a bribery case involving a convicted former U.S. lawmaker, Williams Jefferson.

The governor, however, made an error of referring to the scandal as the Halliburton corruption case.

Although, the Halliburton case is different from the Williams Jefferson scandal.

But Fayose insisted he was right despite Aisha Buhari’s denial and threat of legal action. It should however be noted that Fayose is protected from criminal prosecution by virtue of his position as a serving governor.
