Court remands passenger for assaulting airline crew

A magistrate court in Ogba, Lagos, has ordered the remand of Comfort Emmanson in Kirikiri correctional centre until October 6 for allegedly assaulting Ibom Air staff during a flight from Uyo to Lagos.
Presiding magistrate O.O. Salami issued the order on Monday after Emmanson was arraigned on a five-count charge, including assault and wilful property damage. Court documents allege she shouted at crew members, refused to disembark after landing, and violated section 4(1)(a) of the FAAN Byelaw, 2005.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) clarified it neither charged nor banned Emmanson, noting that prosecutions are handled by the courts. NCAA spokesperson Mike Achimugu said the case’s outcome will be determined by judicial proceedings.
Sowore to lead protest over withheld NYSC certificate of content creator Raye

Human rights activist and 2023 AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has announced plans to stage a protest today against the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for allegedly withholding the discharge certificate of corps member and content creator, Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye.
Uguamaye drew attention in March after posting a video criticising government policies, describing President Bola Tinubu as a “terrible leader”, condemning Lagos’ living conditions, and calling the NYSC scheme “not beneficial”. She later apologised, saying her remarks on Lagos were misunderstood.
Last week, she claimed NYSC officials refused to issue her certificate, accusing her of missing clearance, a situation she blamed on her local government inspector’s refusal to sign her April attendance.
Nigeria, Israel strengthen ties on security, technology, and cultural exchange

Nigeria and Israel have renewed their commitment to stronger cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, security financing, and advanced training.
In a joint communiqué signed by Nigeria’s deputy foreign minister, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Israel’s Sharren Haskel-Harpaz, both nations emphasised the need for improved collaboration in tackling terror financing and boosting intelligence capabilities.
The discussions also extended beyond security to include partnerships in technology for border management, capacity building, cultural exchange, tourism, agriculture, and immigration services, with both sides agreeing to maintain continuous engagement.
EFCC questions Tambuwal over alleged ₦189bn fraud

Former Sokoto State governor and serving senator, Aminu Tambuwal, is being interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals amounting to ₦189 billion.
Sources say Tambuwal arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 11:30am on Monday, where he began facing investigators on the matter.
The alleged transactions are linked to his time as Sokoto governor, though details of the probe are yet to be officially disclosed by the anti-graft agency.
Police extend tinted glass permit enforcement to October 2025

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has extended the grace period for enforcing the tinted glass permit requirement for vehicles, moving the new enforcement date to October 2, 2025.
Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the extension follows a surge in applications through the official portal, indicating increased public compliance.
He added that the delay aims to give more motorists time to obtain the necessary permits before full enforcement begins.
