Days after a military helicopter on surveillance mission crashed in Damare, another military helicopter has crashed.
The chopper, belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, went down around 9.pm on the night of Thusday, 13 November, around the surroundings of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology [MAUTECH] in Girei LGA, Adamawa.
According to eyewitnesses, there were two helicopters flying side by side, but when one crashed, the other one turned back and left.
It is also being sepculated that there may have been explosives aboard the chopper, due to the “huge fire blast” that was seen as it crash-landed.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, confirmed the incident to Premium Times, saying that details of the crash were still sketchy.
He said, “Once we get all the facts, we will come out with a release on the incident,” Mr. Alonge said. “But one thing is clear, the helicopter did not come under enemy fire. It has nothing to do with the enemy.”
