Beyoncé Makes Herstory at the 67th Grammy Award Show

Beyonce makes herstory at the 67th Grammy Awards

This year’s Grammy Award will always be remembered as one of the most unpredictable and exciting Grammys ever.

Everyone has been talking about the iconic moment when American singer Beyoncé’s reaction to winning the awards for “Best Country Album” and “Album of the Year” at the 67th Academy Grammy Awards show on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

With 99 nominations to her name, the Grammys finally did right by Beyoncé, who still stands as the most-awarded artist alive with 35 Grammy awards.

However, despite claiming such a title, Beyoncé has never once received the “Album of the Year” award, a situation that her husband Jay Z brought up at the 2024 Grammys, where he called out the event organisers for their ruthless blindsiding whenever it came to recognising Beyoncé’s talent.

This year, Beyoncé received three awards for her 2024 album “Cowboy Carter,” a country album and a genre she had never experimented with before now. With an outstanding single like “Texas Hold em” to promote the album’s success, the Grammys saw it fit to award Beyoncé the “Album of the Year” award, making her the first black woman to receive it in this century.

Beyoncé also received the award for “Best Country Album,” an award that fellow singer Taylor Swift presented. Winning in this category was nothing short of a monumental achievement as it made her, Beyoncé, the first black woman to win.

Her third win for the night was for “Country Duo/Group Performance”, which she won with singer Miley Cyrus for their song “II Most Wanted.”

The 67th Grammys will be remembered as Kendrick Lamar’s smash hit “Not Like Us” took home five awards.

Tems, Nigeria’s very own heartthrob, won the award for “Best African Music Performance” with her song “Love Me Jeje,” making her the Nigerian artist with the most Grammy wins (2).
